On Wednesday, April 18, 2012, nearly 25 Leeds High School students gathered for First Priority. “It’s important to reach kids my age for God; that’s what Jesus has called us to do,” said Ashley, Leeds High School student.
At First Priority’s 7th Annual Leader’s Summit, Leeds High School’s First Priority club signed up to sponsor a child through Food for the Hungry’s program. At the beginning of each club meeting, students take up an offering to support their sponsored child. Also at this time, students share prayer requests and make announcements. The meeting then continues with praise and worship, and then a message led by a student.
The title of that day’s message was “Heart of Worship.” The student who led that day mentioned several forms of worship: adoring and obeying God, showing affection toward God, and service – telling people about God and ensuring they know God loves them. The student read John 4:24 ~ “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
“Be up front, utmost, and don’t hold anything back, give it all to Him,” said Leeds High School student leading the message that day. “Sometimes worship is just sitting still before God. Worship can also be lifting your hands. It doesn’t always have to be with music, it’s service.”
Do you worship? How do you worship?
