“Do you ever get mad at God,” asked St. Clair County High School First Priority Campus Coach Scott Ray during club meeting on Thursday, May 3, 2012. About 20 students listened as Scott shared about how his family lost their puppy recently to parvo; and they listened as he shared about his uncle who died in an accident in Germany.
“It’s ok to ask God “why,” said Scott. “I know it’s a disappointment when something doesn’t go your way, the way you prayed it would go. But when you’re disappointed you may become vulnerable. Even though you don’t like your situation, you still have to make the choice to trust God. Proverbs tells us to guard our hearts with diligence. Are you going to turn to God?”
Scott read Psalm 91:14-16 (The Message) ~ “If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party. I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!”
“Trust Him even when you don’t understand,” said Scott. “God holds the answer for us. He’s not trying to hurt you. You have to make a choice no matter how difficult it is. You have to guard your heart or the enemy will take it.”
No matter what you may be going through right now, trust God and His plans for your life. Just like Psalm 91 says, trust Him and He will be at your side during bad times. He will give you a long life and a long drink of salvation!
