This year, the First Priority students at Thompson High School have moved from meeting once a week to three times a week, incorporating prayer and discipleship into daily/weekly class schedule life. A few weeks ago, the students decided to do an outreach they called Unite 2 (squared). The purpose was 2 fold: connect people to God; encourage Christians to get involved and connect. They wanted to focus on building relationships, because they knew how critical that was to Jesus and His ministry and how important it was in their own personal walk with the Lord.
Jack Moseley, the youth pastor for First United Methodist Alabaster, partnered with our First Priority club to donate funds and help promote the event. Their generous donations allowed us to purchase 50 boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts and gather students together as the gospel was shared.
Student leaders split up to meet both at the school flag pole outside and in the gym where students met before school. Students led worship, preached the gospel to fellow peers, prayed with fellow believers, and encouraged those who already believed to get involved with serving the school and their community. Tons of students gathered in both locations, ate donuts, and received the message of God’s love for them.
The prayers of students and their boldness to share was so encouraging. These students are bold and eager to serve the Lord and share the gospel. It is so cool to see the Lord work through this generation for His Name.
