We need your help to send students to
Leader’s Summit! On Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, First Priority will hold our 12th Annual Leader’s Summit. What makes this event unique from any other in the nation is that we are able to hand-pick the five or ten top Christian leaders from each middle and high school in our area to attend this event with their school’s First Priority club faculty sponsor. With the enthusiastic approval of school board superintendents and principals, these students and teachers are able to attend this Christian-based leadership and training event during the school day as an excused absence. If you follow church and state/school issues in our country, you know this is practically an unprecedented opportunity to train up to 1,000 of our most influential Christian students during the school day.
In past years, we had a sponsorship that allowed us to provide this event free of charge to students and teachers as well as provide a T-shirt, workbook and lunch for all those in attendance. Due to changing sponsorship commitments, we now ask students for $5 each to help cover the cost of their lunch.
New and more costly challenges arise each year that make it difficult to fund this event adequately – let me explain. Many of our area’s school systems’ budgets are less than in past years. While approving for their students to attend is generally not a problem, now more than ever those who approve this event for their students continue to ask us to help pay for substitute teachers and the transportation costs in order for their schools to participate.
The cost to hold this event will be $15,000 for up to 1,000 students. The help I am asking you for is simple: we need people like you who understand the dire need to train a generation of leaders for the cause of Christ to sponsor students to attend this unique event. Would you help us and graciously sponsor 10 students to attend for $150?
Would you give a gift to help us touch the lives of students all across Central Alabama by empowering those who are best able to influence them for Christ, their peers? Your sponsorship of 10 or more students will have a long reaching impact as those who attend make a positive difference in the lives of many fellow students at their schools.
Let’s not miss this opportunity. Please help us not to have to tell even one of the school’s students they cannot attend due to the lack of funding. Please prayerfully consider how you can help. We truly appreciate your support! |
