See You at the Pole is Wednesday, September 23!

We would like to invite you to join the tens of thousands of students in our area and millions world-wide on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, as they participate in the 30th annual See You at the Pole™ (SYATP). Due to the pandemic, students may have to adapt (time, date, place, even consider online options) for their school or area. We strongly encourage students and adults to follow all applicable local school guidelines and mandates. Because of COVID-19, some schools have not returned to school full-time so they may choose to delay their SYATP meeting until one month later. We are suggesting Wednesday, October 28, as an alternative date.

SYATP is about one simple thing – STUDENTS in PRAYER. Before school, students will meet at their school’s flagpole to pray for their friends, families, teachers, school, city, state and nation to God. SYATP is a student-initiated, student-organized and student-led event. This year’s SYATP theme is “Return, Restore, Revive” and the scripture verse is 2 Kings 23:25 (MSG) – “There was no king to compare with Josiah—neither before nor after—a king who turned in total and repentant obedience to God, heart and mind and strength, following the instructions revealed to and written by Moses. The world would never again see a king like Josiah.”

“See You at the Pole this year will be like no other,” said First Priority Greater Birmingham Ministry Director Debi DeBoer. “Whether students are on campus or learning remotely, prayer will happen. As a nation, we need to return to the Lord and repent for present and past sins. Only then can relationships be restored and healing begin. Awaken our hearts, revive us or we can slumber and watch another generation be without hope.”
We have multiple resources available to students on our Web site including graphics, a planning guide, ways they can report their attendance numbers, and links to videos, the online SYATP store and multiple other resources.
On Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, we encourage you to gather with your family, at your place of business with coworkers or even online and HUMBLE yourselves in PRAYER and SEEK the face of God and take part in one of the LARGEST prayer movements in our nation. PRAY for friends, families, teachers, schools and our world.

Weekend of Prayer Starts TOMORROW!

We would like to remind you that Weekend of Prayer Over Alabama Students is THIS WEEKEND, Aug. 7-9, 2020. Please join us in praying for students, teachers, faculty and administration. They need our prayers now more than ever before! We are living in uncertain times and this new school year is filled with fear, stress and anxiety. Please pray for the health and safety of each school campus. Be in constant prayer for students who don’t know Christ. Pray that Christian students will be bold in sharing their faith and that God will take away any fears they may have.
There are multiple ways you can be involved during the Weekend of Prayer:
  • When you pass by a school, pray for that school. Make a school zone your prayer zone and drive around the school as you pray.
  • Plan a community-wide prayer walk around the schools in your area. Work with your local churches to plan these prayer walks. Please be sure to comply with the necessary safety precautions of social distancing. Be sure to send us the details for your prayer walks so we can help you promote them at: info@firstpriorityal.com.
  • Take time to encourage students, teachers and administration. Call, text or mail them an encouraging card to let them know you are praying for them. Provide them with a specific Bible verse you plan to pray over them throughout this school year.
  • Commission students before they return to school. Talk with your pastor about your church congregation praying over and commissioning students to go and be disciples in their school.

We would like to invite you to join the tens of thousands of students in our area and millions world-wide on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019, as they participate in the 29th annual See You at the Pole™ (SYATP). Before school, students will join together at their school’s flagpole to pray for their friends, families, teachers, school, city, state and nation to God. SYATP is a student-initiated, student-organized and student-led event. This year’s SYATP theme is “IF” and the scripture verse is 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
“‘IF’ is a small word with big ramifications,” said First Priority Greater Birmingham Ministry Director Debi DeBoer. “It’s a choice for hope; a promise that can’t be broken, but hinges on our obedience to bow our knees to the Lordship of Jesus Christ so that God can pour out his mercy on this generation. ‘IF’ only we were convinced. I believe God can save our families. I believe He can restore relationships. I believe God can define our purpose. I believe God can bring unity and heal our nation. The question is ‘do you?’ The word ‘IF’ has a personal meaning now. Join me in prayer and make your voice count to move the heart of God to see revival now in this day, in this time!”

Weekend of Prayer Over Alabama Students is this weekend, August 2-4, 2019. Please join us in praying for students, teachers, faculty and administration. Praying for the students in our area is not just a privilege…it’s a necessity. Students live in a tough world! Each day, students are subjected to literally thousands of offensive images and words. They also face an enormous amount of peer pressure to become part of what is considered normal by the world’s standards. Without prayer, these students will not be able to stand against the insurmountable odds they will face from childhood until they leave this world. Please pray for the safety of each school campus. Please be in constant prayer for students who don’t know Christ. Pray that Christian students will be bold in sharing their faith and that God will take away any fears they may have. Spain Park High School Students Organize Prayer Walk

Students at Spain Park High School organized a prayer walk this past Saturday morning, March 9, at 10 a.m. The focus was to pray over students, school administration, faculty, and families in light of the video that went viral on social media last week.

The school resource officer wanted to know what the students were doing there on a Saturday morning and he stopped what he was doing and joined them in prayer.

Over 70 students and parents walked around the school quietly in prayer and then gathered for worship. After worship, several students led out in corporate prayer for specific needs in the school.

First Priority student leaders also honored Teacher Sponsor Mrs. Chrissy Roe after the parents left and wanted her to know how much they appreciated her support and leadership at their school.

We’re proud of these students and the initiative they took to organize a prayer event to pray for their school.
