“I’m Not Ashamed” – City-wide Recap
First Priority held its first City-Wide Campus Ministry Network Luncheon of the year on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Metro Church of God in Birmingham. Nearly 100 youth leaders and children’s ministers across the Greater-Birmingham area attended for a time of equipping, encouragement and fellowship. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch from Taziki’s Mediterranean Grill.
Our special guest speakers included First Priority Founder and “I’m Not Ashamed” Executive Producer Benny Proffitt and “I’m Not Ashamed” Star Masey McLain. Masey is playing Rachel Scott in the upcoming “I’m Not Ashamed” film based on the true story of the Columbine massacre. Benny interviewed Masey about the movie, highlighting her faith growing up and how she was chosen for the lead role. “I’m Not Ashamed” is based on Rachel’s story in her own words, drawn directly from her journals and writing. In the movie, we meet a real teenager with flaws, temptations and failures whose heart was changed by her relationship with Jesus. We find the story of a student who showed radical compassion to the hurting and unnoticed. It’s the true story of a girl who was not ashamed to speak the name of Jesus to those around her, even to her killers.
Benny also shared the official “I’m Not Ashamed” trailer with all those in attendance. We would like to thank Benny and Masey again for spending the afternoon with us and providing insight about the upcoming film that we hope will change many lives. The movie will be released this fall. CLICK HERE to learn more.
We would also like to give a special thanks to our sponsors who helped make this event a huge success: Samford University’s Ministry Training Institute, College Football Hall of Fame, Whitewater Express and Gateway. Representatives from these organizations provided youth leaders with educational material about their programs and upcoming events. Please take time to visit their Web sites. We would like to thank all those again who attended and joined us for a great time of growth and fellowship.
