“First Priority at Brock’s Gap has become the place to be on Thursday mornings,” said Campus Coach Pastor Randy Norris. “The club has become the talk of the school and community. Each week we are hearing comments from kids and faculty about the positive excitement that First Priority is creating. We have also received emails and Facebook messages from parents expressing how important it is for their kids to realize how many others at their school are choosing to live for Christ.”
Brock’s Gap started First Priority last year because two passionate students for Christ named Timothy and Cain went to their principal asking for permission to start a club. Gaining the support of their principal, Teacher Sponsor Lee Ann Roe and Campus Coach Randy Norris, Brock’s Gap held its first-ever First Priority club meeting in January 2012, with about 15 students in attendance. They were challenged to be missionaries and invite their friends to First Priority and by the end of the year, the club was averaging over 100 kids each week. “That momentum has carried over this year in a big way,” said Randy. “The club has quickly grown to an attendance of over 200 kids gathering each Thursday morning.”
This club is currently preparing for its first Seek Week of the school year. Randy said about 20 students prayed to receive Christ through First Priority last year. “I really believe we could see that number triple this year. These kids are so pumped about being there and inviting everyone to come with them. It won’t surprise me to see over 250 kids there that morning.”
Randy said the club at Brock’s Gap is successful because the kids have taken ownership of it. “On their own, they use their free time to make posters for FP that cover the hallways and school entrances. They are tremendous at ensuring all FP news is shared with teachers and administration. On top of all this, they participate in mission projects. In November, the children are participating in a walk to raise money to help support the 147 million orphans in the world. They are really stepping up and getting everyone on board; all I do is show up.”
