First Priority held a school-wide food drive at Oak Mountain Middle School to benefit local missions. Oak Mountain Middle School students collected 1,799 cans of food to benefit Oak Mountain Missions Ministries, Inc. Students were honored to serve and bless others in their community. It was a great way to end the school year by placing others before themselves.
The winning class that collected the most cans of food enjoyed a popsicle party at Field Day sponsored by the Oak Mountain Middle School First Priority Campus Club. We are very proud of our students for serving others with kind hearts.
Oak Mountain Missions offers food, clothing, limited financial assistance, household items and furniture to clients referred to the organization by social service agencies, Safe House and area shelters. The organization also helps victims of house fires get started again. At Christmas, Oak Mountain Missions finds sponsors for Shelby County children through its mission and several other agencies in Shelby County.
Oak Mountain Missions was extremely thankful for the donated food items. Oak Mountain Missions Assistant Director Dianne Cesario said the organization’s food pantry shelves were almost bare. Dianne says, “Your faithfulness and consistency to bring in the much needed items is so helpful. Isn’t it amazing how God works? Just when the need is the greatest, He sends you wonderful people! It truly is a blessing.”
