On Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, First Priority Student Leader Levi Dorsett shared a message about prayer during St. Clair County High School’s First Priority club meeting. Levi used Luke 11:1 as his theme verse from the Bible ~ “One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
“What’s missing in our prayer life,” asked Levi. “Why are we afraid to go to the Lord in prayer? Are we ashamed, busy? Does your request seem too small to bother God? But, God can move mountains. Real prayer is driven by a relationship.”
“Do you go to the Lord in worship,” asked Levi. “The Lord teaches us during worship.” Then Levi read Matthew 26:39 ~ “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Jesus fell on his face and prayed to God. “How many times do we pray when things are going wrong; what about when things are going right? It’s about a relationship, not just when we’re in need. Make prayer personal and go into detail with prayer, go into detail with sins.”
The meeting concluded with a time of silent prayer. Is your prayer life personal? Is it about a relationship with the Lord?
