On September 28, 2011, more than 30,000 local students participated in this year’s “See You at the Pole.” Millions participated world-wide. Before school, students joined together at their school’s flagpole in prayer for their friends, school, city, state, nation and the world. Many lives were touched, changed and challenged by one of the nation’s largest prayer movements. This year’s See You at the Pole theme was “CONVERGE,” a promise from Scripture. “Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, I am there with you” ~ Matthew 18:20. This simple verse is a comforting and encouraging promise from Jesus Himself that helps us to know He is always with us. Thousands of students also participated in “See You at the Pole” rallies held across the state on the evening of September 28. There were many decisions made for Christ on this momentous day. During this important prayer event, students realized it’s time to put their words into action. Students said the following about See You at the Pole and First Priority.
“It’s a great opportunity for students who are believers to come together and worship unashamed, and then advance the Gospel in their school.” – Cameron, Student
“It just starts the morning off right to get to do something like this; so cool!” – Luke, Student
“It was awesome! God was definitely here. I hope the people that were here will spread the word of God throughout our school.” – Jake, Student
“First Priority at our school has grown a lot in the past few weeks and we’re coming together as a family to reach people for Christ.” – Kassie, Student
See You at the Pole is a student-initiated, student-led movement that started in 1990. It originated with one youth group, meeting at night at several schools in the community during a weekend retreat. For 21 years, See You at the Pole and First Priority have partnered to encourage and challenge students to lead-out in prayer, live-out their faith and ask God to reveal Who He is not only on their own campus but all over the United States and world.
