On Friday, March 27, thousands of Alabamians took time to pray for students, teachers, school administrators and support staff, and schools across the state in observance of Governor Dr. Robert Bentley’s proclamation: “Day of Prayer Over Students Across Alabama.” Students face an enormous amount of peer pressure to become part of what is considered normal by the world’s standards. Adults were asked to pray continuously for students throughout the day as they are faced with challenges such as peer pressure to abuse drugs and alcohol, negative influences in the media, school violence and gang activities, fear and low self-esteem. Many people held prayer gatherings throughout the week. Some participated in prayer walks around schools, and some held prayer vigils at their church praying continuously for students.
We would like to thank all those who took time to pray for our students. We would also like to thank the T.V. and radio stations, local newspapers, churches, and concerned parents and adults who helped us create awareness for this special and important day. Please find below media highlights from Day of Prayer.
