We would like to invite you to Encounter Birmingham, a ministry sponsored by First Priority and led by First Priority Area Director Debi DeBoer. Encounter will launch a monthly worship service for college students and young adults THIS Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. on the campus of Southeastern Bible College, and you’re invited!
Encounter is a non-denominational group of college students and young adults from churches all over the city of Birmingham coming together to worship. Encounter’s mission is to LOVE people, worship Christ and grow spiritually.
“My heart has always been to strengthen and equip the local church (which is why we have our small group on Thursdays),” said Debi. “The college and career group is unique because they have outgrown the youth ministry, yet are uncomfortable in the adult ministry. Over time, our group has grown and we have ministered to a diverse group of students that are all plugged into a local church body of believers. However, while many of these students from local college campuses were disconnected from their home church, they have found community in networking together and challenging each other in a weekly Bible study. With that being said, this ministry is an outcry of that group.”
Encounter is all about bringing the individual college groups from local churches together as the body of Christ in order to reach this generation with the Hope of the Gospel. Statistically, 1 out of 4 remains in the church after high school. This will not be the time when students walk away from the church, but instead are challenged to passionately love Christ with all their heart and to experience Him in worship.
We hope you’ll join us each month beginning THIS Thursday, June 25, at 8:30 p.m. at Southeastern Bible College! Doors will open at 8 p.m. For more information about Encounter, visit the website at www.EncounterBirmingham.com.
