On Wednesday, April 4, 2012, nearly 40 Rudd Middle School students listened as First Priority Campus Coach Eric Sorrelle shared a message about sin and the One who saves us from our sins. Eric mentioned that Satan and the world are sources of sin, and our conscience can become steered. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Eric told the students that sin cannot be removed with good deeds, but there is hope from our sins and that is through Jesus Christ. Eric made four points about Jesus saving us from our sins:
- Jesus Christ’s death – Jesus died in our place.
- Redemption – We’re made free. Jesus purchased us, set us free and gives us new life.
- Reconciliation – back to harmony, things made right.
- Propitiation – We all have a lot of sin/debt. But, we can’t pay it back with money or good deeds. Jesus never sinned, He has no debt. Jesus says through the cross, “I’ll pay your debt.” We have a lot of sin, but it’s paid for through Jesus Christ on the cross.
“Pray to accept Jesus Christ,” said Eric. “He is the only way to hope and to have a $0 balance, no more debt.
Do you know Jesus Christ? He can save you from your sins.
At the meeting, a couple of students shared the following about First Priority:
“I am a part of the worship team and I remember how I felt when I was lost. Anyone can come to First Priority. You don’t have to be special. My brother got me to come to First Priority. He is a leader in high school. I think First Priority is cool.” – Carly, Student
“I don’t get to go to church that often and I want to get close to God and I think First Priority helps. It helps everyone because they get to experience what it’s like to have God in their lives.” – Ryan, Student
