Check out the following letter from our Ministry Partner at Samford University about an opportunity with global missions.
Have a heart for the young people of the world? Want to know more about the global situation with youth and church-based student ministry? Ever thought about the need for training churches in other parts of the world for student ministry?
Next week (Sep. 25-27) Samford University and Beeson Divinity School are hosting Go Global. It will include a variety of missions agencies who are involved with different types of ministries around the world. For more information, click here.
I’m writing you specifically because I’m guessing that you might have a particular interest in hearing from Dr. Randy Smith and possibly meeting with him about Youth Ministry International (www.ymitraining.com). Randy has a Doctor of Missiology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has taught Youth Ministry and Missions at Boyce Bible College for over a decade. YMI is the missions organization I have been working with since 2004. I am the Interim Director of the Global Center at Beeson until May and am praying to return to Asia soon afterward.
Randy will be at his exhibit for the missions fair Wednesday and Thursday (9am – 3pm – most of the time). He will also be leading a workshop on Wednesday from 3-4pm in a classroom in Beeson Divinity School.
The session is entitled Global Youth Culture and Missiology.
Globalization is increasingly having a unique influence on the youth of the world. As the gap between childhood and adulthood widens globally, adults in indigenous cultures face increasing challenges to relate to the ever-changing world of young people. Randy Smith will elaborate on this topic as well as discuss the strategies used by YMI to train leaders to reach young people within the people groups of the world.
There are several reasons to come to this and/or meet Randy Smith personally – To know about global issues with youth, to learn how to pray for them, and to get a vision for how your church can be involved. Also, we are always on the lookout for people with solid youth ministry experience who are interested in the possibility of training youth leaders in other parts of the world. Want to know more?? You are welcome to just show up at the missions fair and the workshop, of course. Or you can email me to request an arranged time to talk with him personally.
Blessings,
Dr. David Parks
