Our culture is changing vastly and First Priority is working to change with it. This is our second year to implement FPKids, a strategy for churches and parents to partner together around schools to empower elementary and intermediate students to influence their school with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This year, 35 schools and nearly 3,500 students participated in FPKids. The FPKids strategy focuses on teaching students to know and do what “Jesus Said.” The curriculum consists of four parts that are repeated every month: Read It, See It, Live It, Tell It. Each month, students Read and learn what Jesus Said; they See how His teaching changes them and the marks it leaves on them; they experience real ways to Live out the truth with love; and they encourage each other to Tell others about Jesus. FPKids is taking God’s Word and putting it into action on campus.
FPKids has been a great success this school year. Several new FPKids clubs were started, among those include: Brookville Elementary, Minor Community and Gardendale Elementary in North Jefferson County. This was all possible because of the support and partnership with the local church. Sharon Heights Baptist, Gardendale Mt. Vernon United Methodist and Westwood Baptist stepped up this year to adopt these local schools. It is always exciting to be joined by parents and local churches who want to get involved and make a difference in the lives of our children.
It’s always encouraging to see students fired up about Bible reading and prayer. Students learned hand motions to Bible verses to help them remember and teach others what Jesus Said. One 4th grade student said he told all his friends that Jesus loves them and wants us to follow him. The student shared John 8:31-32 of the Bible with his friends and told them Jesus wants us to know him and live in our hearts. These students are little missionaries hard at work for the Kingdom. Wow, God is good!
We hear stories just like this every week from our different FPKids clubs. The staff at First Priority is very thankful for all the prayers and support from the local community. We praise God for all He has done and the seeds of life planted in students’ hearts.
