Our special guest speaker Evangelist and Founder of Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association Scott Dawson, brought an inspirational message about keeping our focus on Jesus and turning lives to Christ. Scott read from Acts 16:16-34 of the Bible. He told the story about Paul and Silas being thrown into prison. While in prison, they prayed and sang hymns to God and other prisoners listened to them. Suddenly, there was an earthquake and the prison was shaken causing all of the prison doors to fly open and everyone’s chains to come loose. The jailer woke up and started to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But, Paul shouted for him not to harm himself because everyone was there. Trembling, the jailer rushed to Paul and Silas and asked them, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household.” Then they spoke the Word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house and they were immediately baptized.
Scott closed by asking the youth leaders, “What are we telling our students? How are we sharing the gospel? It’s about Jesus, not us. We have to tell students about Christ. Paul’s prayers in jail were not ‘save me,’ but ‘help me to impact others.’ What is our prayer, ‘God comfort me or help me to impact others?’ We need to say, “God use me.”
We would like to thank Scott for his words of encouragement and the challenge to move and share the Gospel with others like Paul and Silas did. Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association will be holding Stadium Fest at Spain Park Jaguar Stadium April 12-13, 2013. Mark your calendars now!
We would like to give a special thanks to our vendors who helped make this event a huge success: Girls of Grace, youthministry360, Beeson Divinity School and The Lost Medallion.
