Springville Middle School students' first club meeting of the school year

First Priority students held their first club meeting of the school year on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, with nearly 60 students in attendance. “I love being the sponsor of this great group,” said Teacher Sponsor Debbie Roberts. The meeting began with a discussion about how students can be leaders in the club. “There are various ways you can serve in First Priority,” said Debbie. “You can lead music, devotions and promotion. Think about how you might want to serve this year.”

David Snider, youth pastor at CrossPoint Church led the message and began by telling a story about his family. He said this past summer he and his family went to the beach and each day they would build sand castles and his daughter would crush them. Day after day they would load up, go out and do it again. He said there was a man that would spend hours building Disney characters with sand. David said this reminded him of Matthew 7:24-27 ~ “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

“Take your faith to the next level, a deeper level,” said David. “Build your faith on a strong foundation. The sand was weak and could be crushed and washed away. Will you go deep this year and grow stronger in your faith? Go deeper in God’s word. It’s like building your house on a rock.”
