James has been with our team since 2003 as a Network President and Campus Coach. James joined the team full-time in 2009 as one of our Area Directors for North and West Jefferson County. He helps plan, organize and develop clubs and school-related events in his area. On a weekly basis during the school year, James helps train and mobilize students to implement weekly clubs with the help of local churches. He also coordinates FPKids clubs in his area and is a campus coach in several elementary schools. James has also served as youth pastor and associate pastor in several churches in his network area. When schools are not in session, James travels and speaks at church camps and youth events.
James first became involved with First Priority as a campus volunteer/coach at Bottenfield Middle School now known as Minor Middle School in Adamsville, Ala. James attended Lee University for Biblical Studies and Pastoral Counseling along with Church Organization/Planning. Before joining the First Priority team, James served eight years in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed overseas several times with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit as a Machine Gun Squad Leader.
James loves working with students and seeing them transformed by the Gospel. James currently serves as student pastor at Beechwood Baptist Church in Mt.Olive, Ala. James also volunteers at the North Jefferson Women's Center where he teaches in the local schools about making right choices and decisions along with STD facts and educational information. James lives in Gardendale, Ala. with his wife Christy and three sons Drake, Dawson and Kaden.
