5K Run at Alabama Adventure to benefit ministries of First Priority and Flint Hill Christian School
(BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – June 1, 2011) First Priority of Alabama and Flint Hill Christian School will host a 5K and one mile fun run at Alabama Adventure Water and Theme Park on Saturday, June 11, at 8 a.m. First Priority is a 501C(3) non-profit organization that works in the community as a strategic partnership of churches, ministers, business people, educators, parents and students who are concerned about the moral and spiritual well-being of youth in Greater Birmingham.
“This is First Priority’s twentieth year of campus ministry,” said First Priority Executive Director Matt Wilson. “We are now on over 200 campuses across Greater Birmingham and more than 15,000 students each week are impacted by First Priority clubs when school is in session. Proceeds from this event will help us to continue to reach out and make a positive difference in students’ lives.”
All 5K and one mile fun run participants will receive a free ticket to Alabama Adventure redeemable the day of the race. June 11 is also Christian Music Day at Alabama Adventure and GRAMMY® nominated and “Top Christian Album” Billboard Music Award Winner Skillet will be performing that evening.
“We invite everyone to come out to the run in the morning, enjoy the water and amusement parks during the day, and listen to Skillet that night,” says Wilson. “There will also be door prizes and refreshments for all participants and awards for overall and age-group winners and Fun Run participants. Anyone can participate!”
Entry fees are: 5K Run – Early Registration: $25 (register by Friday, June 10); Race Day 5K Run Entry: $30; and One Mile Fun Run/Walk: $15. Day of race registration will begin at 7 a.m. For additional information or to register online, visit www.gofirstpriority.com.
“Your support and participation will help to train and mentor future leaders, provide positive peer groups for students on elementary, middle and high school campuses across the area, facilitate school-wide assemblies to fight drug and alcohol abuse, and much more,” says Wilson. “You will be a blessing to us and the important work we do to impact students’ lives.”
